The SmartFoX Difference

Hi there! Me here.

I wanted to take a moment to tell you a little about why I started SmartFox and what it’s all about.

I’m a fiction writer—like you!—and when I first started out in the world of publishing, I found two kinds of people. The first group was cutthroat, overly critical, and bent on making others feel inadequate in their storytelling—all in the name of helping others to

“develop a thick skin.”

This group nearly killed my writing career before it started.

The second group consisted of people who had walked this path before me and guided me through the publishing highs and lows in a way that encouraged, taught, and mentored me.

They, too, spoke of this elusive “thick skin” but in a way that helped me understand what that actually means in this industry.

These wonderful people became my community.

When the writing journey got hard, they helped me to rise above and keep going. And they inspired me to be the kind of mentor I wished I’d had in the very beginning.

Now that I am a multi-published, award-winning, agented author in both the traditional General and Christian Markets, I see myself in so many newer authors entering the scene.

It can be an exciting and overwhelming journey. Endless possibilities, endless questions, and so much to learn and take in.

And I want to provide part of the same helpful, truthful, and nurturing environment—that I finally found—for you.

I’ve been in the query trenches, I’ve worked in acquisitions, and I’ve edited for publishers, a newspaper, and a magazine. And I’m an instructor for fiction writing at The Author Conservatory. So, you could say I’ve worn a lot of hats in this field.

And so I Created

my editing experience ranges from acqusitions to proofreading and covers everything in between.
